Ian Ballina, a well-known cryptocurrency proponent and millionaire investor, was hacked. According to Balina, a college email account might have been the birthplace of the hack. Balina has asked his friends and community for help to catch the individual(s) responsible for the act.
Balina, an influential cryptocurrency investor, adviser and evangelist, who has 142,000 Twitter followers, announced on Monday that he was apparently hacked of $2 million during an ICO review Live Stream.
His latest tweet post reads, “Crypto Family, I need you now more than ever. I ended today’s live stream b/c I am being hacked. I’m not worried about the money. I learned my lesson. I only care about catching the hacker. Please email any information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you all the support. $ETH $BTC.”
The tweet indicates Ballina knows the fact that he failed to have safe security measures to prevent such an incident from happening.
While Balina was conducting the ICO review session on his Youtube channel like always, it was one of the viewers who warned him that ‘someone’ had moved all of Balina’s tokens from his wallet.
The user comment read, “Ian, did you know that somebody transferred all your tokens from your account. Hope that it’s controlled movement.”
While with the review session, Balina did not pay notice to the user’s comment. The live stream went down 15 minutes later due to a power cut and a few hours later, Ballina returned to continue the feed. It was then he noticed he had been signed out of his Google Sheets profile. Ballina later took to his Telegram channel and revealed that he was forced to discontinue the live feed abruptly as he got hacked.
Just a few days ago, Ballina had posted his portfolio snapshot on his Twitter handle which included WABI, DRGN, OST, ICX, RHOC, NAS, ABT, POWR, QSP, EOS, ZRX, NEO/BTC, BRD, FLIXX, KNC, HST, WAN, NCASH, ETH, LOOM, POA, NPXS, AION and PARETO worth $2.91 million.
